Acupuncture has been used as a form of healthcare for approximately 3,000 years. There are as many as 2,000 acupuncture points located on the surface of the skin which are connected by pathways, or meridians. These meridians allow for the circulation of Qi (pronounced "chee"), the substance or energy that keeps us alive, throughout the body. Acupuncture is the insertion of needles into the skin at different acupuncture points to access and redirect the Qi in order to restore balance.
Acupuncture can be used to treat or ease many conditions, including: digestive disorders, urogenital disorders, gynecological disorders, respiratory disorders, circulatory disorders, disorders of the bones, joints and muscles, disorders of the nervous system, immune disorders, sleep and stress disorders, emotional and psychological disorders and as supportive therapy for many other chronic and debilitating disorders.
